Varalakshmi and Suhasini Team up for The Verdict Movie

Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar star in the legal drama ‘The Verdict’, which is set in the United States. Shruti Hariharan, Vidyulekha Raman, Prakash Mohandas, and others are also playing key roles in the film. The film, directed by debutant Krishna Shankar, was shot in just 23 days.
Pointing out how much extensive pre-production helps in a smooth shoot, Shankar says that it took nine months for preparatory work before the shoot began. “Pre-production started in January 2023 and we went for shooting in September of the same year. Post-production lasted for three months,” he says.
Asked if Tamil audiences can relate to a courtroom drama in the US, he says, “I don’t think there is much difference between court proceedings in India and the US, except for the jury system. Also, what happens outside the court is normal and relatable to the Indian audience.”
“The senior actors were undemanding and very cooperative, without which the shooting could not have been completed so quickly.” Cinematographer Aravind Krishna, known for films like ‘Puthupettai’ and ‘7G Rainbow Colony’, is handling the cinematography. Sathish Surya, known for ‘Vikram Vedha’, is handling the editing. Aditya Rao is composing the music.
‘The Verdict’, produced by Prakash Mohandas under the banner of Agni Entertainment, will be released in Kerala by Thekkepattat Films in the last week of May. PRO-AS Dinesh.
